We arrived in Sydney to drizzle and damp, walked over to our meeting place for the taxi we had booked to take us to our hotel, only to spend about an hour hauling round two trollies with 4 large cases and 2 small hand luggage only to find no trace of our car and not able to contact them by phone, in the end we got another cab and paid again.......not a good start ! The hotel was not too bad, so we dumped our cases, and walked about 20 minutes down to the harbour to see if we could climb the bridge, the age limit is 73 so we just made it !! The weather was horrendous, and we were kitted out in waterproofs, there were only 4 of us in our group with the guide, not many were as hardy (or stupid) as us to climb in the dreadful conditions but we only had one chance so up we went. Fantastic in spite of being drenched to the skin the whole experience was great and after drying off, having a cup of coffee and spending some money in their merchandise shop we wanted to climb one of the supporting towers that houses the bridge history , that only involved climbing 200 steps so after the bridge was just a stroll !! We then went to the Opera House and bought some souvenirs, had fish and chips in the Opera Kitchen and got a taxi back to our hotel. The room and the bed was very comfy and after having a shower had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good value and we took our time, the taxi we had booked to take us to the cruise terminal was on time and very luxurious, but it was raining so hard we again got soaked just crossing the pavement into the car......just like home really!.
